Overview
Ieoh Ming Pei, recognized as I. M. Pei, is a Chinese American architect, known as the Master of Modern Architecture. Some of his works include the Louvre Pyramid, The National Gallery of Art (East), and the John F. Kennedy Library, among others.
His style is most often regarded as modern and geometric, intertwined with heavy influences of cubism, and still inclusive of traditional elements.
Considerations
The book was designed to extend Pei’s architectural approach, bridging the gap between that which is stylistic and analytic.
Since the book predominantly highlights structural decisions, black and white photos were chosen to help the reader focus on form.
Bright yellow overlays highlight key elements, providing a rhythm of functionality and fluidity.
